The 1983 Olympic Silver Dollar was the first Olympic commemorative coins ever issued by the United States Mint. It was also the first time since 1933 that the United Stats issued a gold coin. Arriving in a velvet and satin presentation 2 piece flip top case, it features the XXIII Summer Olympic Games moving star symbol representing international athletes' pursuit of excellence and the traditional five Olympic rings representing universal brother hood among the five continents of the world. The red, white and blue ribbon highlights the American location of the 1984 games.
